Remote working: a double-edged sword for workers' personal and professional well-being

Abstract While research suggests that work centrality has a positive effect on engagement and negative influence family satisfaction, these relations may differ as function of one's setting (onsite vs. remote working). In the present study, we examined direct indirect – through work-family conflict (WFC), family-work (FWC), enrichment (WFE), (FWE) effects satisfaction. We also whether satisfaction differed between onsite employees. used cross-sectional survey design to test our hypotheses among total 432 employees, including 152 always working 280 remotely. As expected, results revealed was positively related negatively Moreover, (IE) were significantly mediated by WFE, whereas IE FWC, FWE. Finally, outcomes (work satisfaction) stronger employees than These act double-edged sword buffering but limiting engagement. Organizations managers should thus consider addressing employees' type in their efforts promote professional personal well-being.
